What guardians are

Guardians are the powerful animals holding eggs. The live text states that role. A longer line adds the escape after you steal.

Every egg the game talks about is held by a guardian. The current official step is "Steal eggs from guardians." That is a guarding role, not a bestiary.

Escape is in one wording only

The longer recorded description says: train your backflips, jump higher, steal rare eggs, and escape from their powerful animal guardians. "Their" means each egg has a guardian, and the escape is written as part of the steal.

The current official description does not describe a chase. The two lines do not contradict, but only one of them mentions getting away. The first time you take an egg, watch what that animal does.

No species roster

The description does not name guardians, count them, or assign them to biomes or egg tiers. In one recorded copy, the phrase "powerful animal guardians" sits beside dragon, wolf, and lion emojis. Those emojis are a hint in that copy, not a confirmed species list. Do not plan a route that assumes a wolf owns one biome.

The same longer text lists Common through Mythic eggs and does not say the guardian or the escape gets harder at higher tiers.

What to do with that

Treat every egg as owned. Take it, then be ready to leave if the animal reacts. There is no published catch penalty, speed, or tool that stuns a guardian. After you are clear, the longer text says the egg still has to reach your base before it is yours to hatch.

The egg tiers and the return trip are covered in Steal an egg.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Does Backflip for Animals! have a working code right now?

No code string for this place is confirmed. The current official How to Play text does not mention codes, and the code list on this site is empty on purpose.

Are Common, Rare, Epic, Legendary, and Mythic pet rarities?

Those five words are egg labels in a longer recorded description. The live How to Play line only calls the hatched animals rare pets, and says some of them are mutated. It does not print a pet-rarity ladder.

Does treadmill Speed make backflips higher?

The official list does not say that. Backflips are the step tied to new biomes. Speed is the stat tied to the treadmill. A separate recorded description says backflip power and jump height rise as you get stronger, still without naming Speed as the cause.

What is the difference between biomes and stages?

The current official text says backflip to reach new biomes. An older recorded wording says improved backflip power reaches new stages and that higher stages hold rarer eggs. Nothing published confirms they are two different maps. Use the label your session actually shows.

What does a mutated pet change?

The official line only says some hatched pets are mutated. It does not name mutation types, odds, or a stat change. A 29 September 2026 note about Update 2.5 said a new mutation was part of that event and left the rest as unknown.
